Sponsorship at scale: managing compliance through business changes and growth

Growth changes your sponsor licence whether you tell the Home Office or not. A merger, an acquisition, a TUPE transfer or a change of ownership has to be reported through the Sponsor Management System (SMS) within 20 working days. If sponsored workers move to an organisation that doesn't hold a licence, that organisation has 20 working days to apply for one, or those workers' sponsorship is at risk.
For mid-market employers, these changes rarely arrive one at a time. This session maps the business events that trigger a sponsor duty, what to check before a deal completes, and how to keep your licence, key personnel and Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) allocation in step as you grow. Every attendee gets a business change checklist, plus live Q&A with our IAA-regulated immigration adviser.
Join the session at 11am UK on 3 November 2026.
What you'll learn
- The business changes you must report through the SMS, and the 20 working day deadline that applies.
- What happens to sponsored workers in a TUPE transfer, merger or acquisition, and when a new licence is needed.
- How to build immigration due diligence into a deal before it completes, not after.
- How to scale your CoS allocation, key personnel and SMS users as your sponsored workforce grows.
