Worker visas / Visa applications

Skilled Worker and Health and Care visas, start to finish

When you’re hiring across teams and sites, the hard part is knowing where every application stands. Borderless sends the offer, collects each candidate’s documents through their own portal and shows every application on one live timeline. Our Iris AI agent helps with questions and forms along the way, and an IAA-regulated immigration adviser checks the role, the salary, and the documents before anything is submitted.

From the offer to the visa decision

You send the offer

Add the role, salary and start date, and invite the candidate to their portal.

The documents are checked

Passports, certificates and evidence are read as they arrive, and any gaps go straight back to the candidate.

Your adviser checks the role and salary

An IAA-regulated immigration adviser confirms the occupation code, salary and evidence, and prepares the application.

Everyone follows one timeline

The certificate is assigned once you approve, and you and the candidate see each milestone until the decision.

Every step of the application

From the offer to the decision, each application runs on the same record as your licence and your certificates, so nothing is keyed twice.

01

Start from the offer

Open a case from the offer, with the role, salary and start date captured once and used for the certificate and the application.

02

A portal for each candidate

Candidates upload passports, certificates and evidence through their own portal, get updates at key milestones, and can message their adviser.

03

Documents checked as they arrive

Each document is checked as it arrives, key details are pulled out to pre-fill the form, and anything missing, expired or mismatched is flagged.

04

Salary and role checks

The occupation code, going rate and salary rules are checked by your adviser before anything is submitted.

05

One live timeline

See where every application is, what’s outstanding, and what’s next, for every candidate at once.

06

Expiry dates tracked

Once the visa is granted, its end date is tracked, so the extension starts in good time.

Which visa fits the role

Both routes need a sponsor licence and a Certificate of Sponsorship. Your adviser confirms the right one for each hire before the offer goes out.

Skilled Worker

For most sponsored roles

The role must be at an eligible skill level and meet the salary rules for its occupation code. Engineers, analysts and other professional hires usually apply here.

Health and Care

For eligible health and care jobs

For doctors, nurses, other health professionals and social workers, working for an eligible health or care employer.

Care workers

Overseas recruitment closed

New applications from overseas for care worker and senior care worker roles closed on 22 July 2025. Care workers already in the UK can extend or switch during a transition period to 22 July 2028, which is kept under review.

Questions we’re often asked

Do you handle both Skilled Worker and Health and Care visas?

Yes. Both run through the same process, from the offer to the decision. Your adviser confirms which route fits each role before the certificate is assigned.

Can we still sponsor care workers from overseas?

Not for care worker and senior care worker roles. New applications from overseas closed on 22 July 2025. Care workers already in the UK can extend or switch until 22 July 2028 if they meet the conditions, and other eligible roles, such as registered nurses, can still be sponsored.

What does the candidate see?

Their own portal, where they upload documents, see updates at key milestones, and message their adviser directly.

Can partners and children apply too?

Yes. We handle partner and child applications alongside the main applicant’s. Whether someone can bring dependants depends on their visa route, and each dependant has their own Home Office fee and Immigration Health Surcharge (Health and Care Worker dependants don’t pay the surcharge). Your adviser checks eligibility before anything is submitted.
