Worker visas / Keeping your sponsored workers
Every visa extension, started early and filed on time
When a sponsored worker’s visa is due to end, Borderless flags it months ahead, helps you assign the new Certificate of Sponsorship and gathers the documents, so the extension goes in well inside the deadline. An IAA-regulated immigration adviser reviews every application before it’s submitted.

Everything after the first visa
Most of the work of sponsorship happens after someone starts. These are the moments that decide whether they can stay with you.
Extensions
Visa extensions, started early
Every end date is tracked, and each extension opens months ahead, so there’s time to assign a new certificate and gather the documents.
Right to work
Follow-up checks, scheduled
Workers with time-limited permission need repeat right to work checks. Each one is booked before it falls due, and the evidence is saved to the record.
Change of role
Promotions and new jobs
A move to a different occupation code means the worker must update their visa. Smaller changes to the job are reported instead. We tell you which applies.

Questions we’re often asked
When does a sponsored worker need to extend?
Before their current visa ends. You assign a new Certificate of Sponsorship and they apply to extend, as long as the job, occupation code and employer stay the same. Borderless flags every end date months ahead, so there’s time to do it properly.
Which changes do we have to report, and how quickly?
Changes about a worker, such as a lower salary, a new work location, a significant change to the job, or an absence beyond the allowed limits, must be reported within 10 working days. Changes to your organisation have 20 working days. Your adviser reviews each report before it goes in.
Can we hire someone who’s sponsored by another employer?
Yes. You assign them a new Certificate of Sponsorship and they apply to update their visa. They can keep working in their current job while it’s considered, but shouldn’t start with you until their new permission is confirmed.
Do you help with settlement (ILR)?
Our advisers can give guidance on settlement, such as when a worker may qualify. We don’t handle ILR applications yet. Register interest and we’ll tell you when we do.
