Reporting on the SMS Portal: A Hands-On Walkthrough

The Sponsorship Management System (SMS) is the Home Office's portal for managing your sponsor licence. Every reporting duty you have as a sponsor, from changes in worker circumstances to absences and salary updates, runs through it. And yet, most sponsors we speak to either don't know how to use it properly, or are using workarounds that put their reporting timelines at risk.
A missed or late report on the SMS is one of the most common reasons sponsors receive a compliance action. In many cases, the report was intended but never completed, or was entered in the wrong section of the portal.
In this hands-on 45-minute session, Matthew Bond (CEO, Borderless Immigration) and Aleena Jeremiah (Immigration Advisor, Borderless Immigration) walk through the SMS portal screen by screen, showing you exactly what to report, where to report it, and the deadlines you need to hit.
What you'll learn:
- A live walkthrough of the SMS portal, covering the sections sponsors use most and the ones they often miss
- The specific reporting events that must be logged on the SMS, with the exact deadlines for each
- The most common SMS reporting mistakes we see, and how to avoid them
- How to set up an internal reporting process so that SMS obligations don't fall through the cracks
Who should attend: HR Administrators, Compliance Officers, Authorising Officers, Level 1 Users, and anyone with SMS portal access.
