Home Office Audits: What They Look Like and How to Pass Them

The number of UK employers losing their licence to sponsor migrant workers tripled at the end of 2025, with more than 1,500 stripped of their sponsor licence between October and December. That pace has carried into 2026, and the Home Office now uses HMRC, PAYE and Companies House data to flag compliance concerns without needing a physical site visit. Most sponsors have no clear picture of what an audit involves until they're sitting in one.

Save your seat for Tuesday 18 August at 11am UK, where you'll hear it from both sides in 45 minutes: our CEO on what Borderless's own audit was really like, and an IAA-regulated adviser on the traps that catch sponsors out. There'll be time for your questions at the end.

Key learnings include::
  • A first-hand account from our CEO of Borderless's own Home Office audit
  • The nuances and traps to watch for, including what triggers a visit and how desktop and face-to-face audits differ
  • What inspectors ask your Authorising Officer, key contacts, and workers
  • What to be doing now to stay audit-ready, whenever a visit comes

All attendees get our free Home Office audit checklist to keep.

Who should attend: HR managers, compliance officers, Authorising Officers, Level 1 SMS users, and senior leaders at organisations holding a sponsor licence.

The obvious benefits are time savings and better management of finances. Before, if someone resigned we had to use agency to fill the gap because candidates wouldn’t arrive for months.
