This post is part of our ongoing Why I joined Borderless series, where we spotlight new team members and the journeys that brought them here.
We’re excited to welcome James to the Borderless team as our newest Account Executive. James brings clarity, energy, and a customer-first mindset to every conversation — and he joins us at just the right moment. As Borderless scales beyond care into new industries, James will play a key role in ensuring the right companies get the right support.
Here’s what James had to say about joining Borderless:
What drew you to Borderless?
I’ve had several family members go through the care system, and I’ve seen firsthand how vital sponsored workers are to quality care. So when I learned about Borderless, it immediately resonated — not just as a tech platform, but as a mission.
Borderless isn’t just streamlining admin. It’s unlocking access to essential services and making immigration something that works for everyone — providers, workers, and the people they support.
What were your top reasons for joining?
It was the rare combination of real-world impact and product-led disruption. Sponsorship is messy, expensive, and confusing for most employers. Borderless makes it simple, affordable, and scalable — and that’s solving a very real pain for thousands of businesses.
The chance to join a company building something better — and doing it at speed — was too good to pass up.
What is your role at Borderless, and what will you be focusing on?
I’ve joined the sales team as an Account Executive. My job is to help companies navigate the sponsorship journey — whether they’re just starting out or stuck in an inefficient process that’s costing them time and money.
I’m particularly focused on helping us grow beyond the care sector into other industries where the same compliance challenges exist — but support is even harder to find.
What’s your vision for the team or function you’re part of?
I want to help Borderless become the go-to platform for any organisation that needs to hire internationally. That means supporting companies to move away from spreadsheets, emails, and expensive consultants — and towards one simple platform that does it all.
If we do our jobs right, we’ll not only help companies scale, we’ll raise the bar for what good immigration support looks like.
What are you most excited to build or change here?
A smarter, more proactive approach to sponsorship — one that gives employers real visibility, control, and confidence.
I’m also excited to work on our expansion strategy. We’re already helping 350+ providers across the UK — and I can’t wait to help bring Borderless to even more industries where the need is high and the current options are limited.
What has surprised or impressed you most so far?
The pace. From week one, I was sitting in on strategic conversations and speaking to customers in entirely new verticals. The team moves quickly, but with real thought and purpose.
Also, the culture — it’s fast-moving but friendly, with a real sense of shared ownership. People are trusted to lead and supported to grow.
What advice would you give to others thinking of joining Borderless?
If you care about solving real problems with smart tech and great people, this is the place.
You don’t need to know immigration inside out — you’ll learn. What matters more is bringing curiosity, empathy, and a bias for action. The mission is serious, but the team has fun. I couldn’t recommend it more.
